Reflective check in Sessions

Ongoing reflective therapy for emotional wellbeing, meaning, and self-connection

A monthly space to stay in relationship with yourself

Many people seek therapy during periods of difficulty and leave feeling clearer, steadier, and more connected to themselves.

What often follows is quieter and less obvious: life resumes, demands increase, and the reflective space that supported this connection gradually disappears. Over time, people may continue to function well while slowly losing contact with their emotional life, values, and sense of direction.

Reflective check in Sessions are designed to prevent this drift.

They offer a regular, intentional space for reflection, life review, and emotional check-in, supporting ongoing wellbeing rather than responding only when things become overwhelming.

What are Reflective Check In Sessions?

Reflective Check In sessions are monthly 60-minute therapy sessions, offered either:

  • as a stand-alone service, or

  • following an initial period of therapy

They provide a consistent space to:

  • pause and reflect on how life is unfolding

  • notice emotional patterns before they become difficulties

  • reconnect with needs, values, and aspirations

  • support emotional regulation and self-awareness

  • review balance, direction, and meaning

This is not crisis therapy. It is a serious and intentional commitment to emotional wellbeing.

How the sessions work?

Sessions can be shaped to suit your needs and may include:

  • Life review and balance, using frameworks such as the Wheel of Life

  • Emotional check-ins, supporting awareness and regulation

  • Reflection on needs and wants, especially those that are often neglected

  • Exploration of meaning and direction, particularly during life transitions

  • Open reflective space, without pressure to “fix” or perform

Some sessions may be focused and practical; others slower and more contemplative. The work is responsive rather than prescriptive.

A preventative approach to mental health

Just as physical health benefits from regular movement and attention, emotional wellbeing benefits from ongoing reflection and care.

Without this, people often adapt, cope, and carry on, while becoming increasingly disconnected from themselves.

These sessions offer a way to remain emotionally present, regulated, and engaged with life as it is actually being lived.

Commitment and structure

Reflective Check In Sessions are offered as a rolling monthly commitment.

This reflects the seriousness of the work and the intention to support sustained wellbeing rather than short-term problem-solving.

  • Sessions: 60 minutes, monthly

  • Format: Online

  • Fee: £60 per session

  • Practice is conducted in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework

Suitability will always be discussed collaboratively.

Who this is for?

This service may suit you if you:

  • value reflection, emotional awareness, and personal meaning

  • want to stay connected to yourself as life evolves

  • prefer prevention over waiting for difficulties to arise

  • are willing to make a consistent commitment to emotional care and well-being

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this therapy?

Yes, these sessions are offered as a form of reflective therapy and are conducted within the BACP Ethical Framework.

They differ from time-limited or crisis-focused therapy in that they are preventative and ongoing, with an emphasis on reflection, emotional regulation, life review, and maintaining connection with yourself over time.

Some people experience them as lighter in intensity than traditional therapy; others find them equally meaningful, just differently focused.

Do I need to have had therapy before?

No. Reflective Check In sessions can be accessed either:

  • as a stand-alone service, or

  • following a previous period of therapy

If you are new to therapy, we will take time initially to ensure this offering is suitable for you and that expectations are clear.

What if I’m going through a difficult period?

These sessions are not intended as crisis support. If significant distress, risk, or acute difficulties arise, we would discuss whether a different therapeutic arrangement or additional support would be more appropriate.

Where possible, this conversation would take place collaboratively and with care.

Is this like coaching or mentoring?

No. While sessions may sometimes be structured or goal-focused, the work remains therapeutic rather than directive.

The emphasis is on reflection, awareness, and emotional understanding — not advice-giving or performance.

Can I stop or pause the sessions?

Yes. Reflective Check In Sessions are offered as a rolling monthly commitment, reflecting the intention to support ongoing wellbeing.

However, you are not locked in indefinitely. If you wish to pause or end the sessions, this can be discussed openly and agreed with reasonable notice.
